The Wisconsin Badgers (17-14) were selected as a two seed in the 2023 National Invitational Tournament (NIT) and will host the Bradley Braves (25-9), who got the automatic bid in the NIT due to winning the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title.
Tipoff for the first round matchup between Wisconsin & Bradley will be on Tuesday, March 14th, at 8:30 p.m. (Central Time) and will be nationally televised on ESPN.

The Badgers got the “Bracket of Death,” if such a thing exists in the NIT.
Wisconsin is making their fifth ever appearance in the NIT and first since 1996. UW has an all-time record of 3-4 (.429) in the NIT.
I am definitely NOT among those who are overtly critical of Wisconsin accepting a bid into the NIT.
Programs have “off” years and this one for the Badgers was defined by 7-losses by 4-points or fewer and 2-more overtime losses.
This was and is … a well coached team with opportunity ahead.
Here’s the complete NIT schedule:
- First round NIT games are March 14-15 at campus sites.
- Second round (Sweet 16) NIT games are March 18-19 at campus sites.
- The Quarterfinal (Elite 8) NIT games are March 21-22 at campus sites.
- The 2023 NIT semifinals (Final Four) games are March 28 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on ESPN.
- The 2023 NIT National Championship game is March 30 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on ESPN2.
