The day I brought Rocky home on February 10th, 2010 was one of the happiest days of my life. Today marks the five-month anniversary of his passing (March 24, 2023). It still breaks my heart when I write my blogs without his head resting on my knee or his eyes looking up at me as I type this.
Grief is a wound that never fully heals. When I think of the fond memories with him or see pictures in my camera roll, which there’s many, sometimes it makes me smile, & sometimes it still makes me cry.
It still hurts to talk about it even now five months later. The pain won’t ever go away.
Rocky had exactly 11-days left on earth this one sweet night when I got home from the Cheesecake Factory telling him that his most favorite person wanted me to give him belly rubs, treats & cuddles:

We had no idea he was about to die just 11-days later. He still had so much spirit & genuine joy to see his most favorite people & get his treats, belly rubs & cuddles from them.
I’m forever grateful he didn’t suffer (until the final 24-hours of his life) & we lived in an ignorant bubble of bliss thinking we had a lifetime together.
I am so fortunate to have Rocky in my life. He was a gift. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him in my life. He was literally the most perfect dog. The amazing part of him was he had such a presence & aura that calmed everyone down.
Rocky, my baby boy, I miss you more than I can explain. I hope you know how much I love you, as well as how much everyone else loved you. You were my heart & soul. It’s been torture having you ripped from my life, that was never the plan. All I can hope for now is that you are happy, loved & settled where you are until I come to pick you up again.

It’s been a difficult five months trying to navigate through this new life with Rocky physically not here.
