This will probably be a relatively short blog, but I rewatched the Packers Turkey Day win in Detroit last night – something I always do win, lose or draw to see if there’s anything I missed while watching the game live.
So here’s some thoughts:
For those that don’t know, the Packers (5-6) got a big win, 29-22, over the Detroit Lions (8-3) at Ford Field.
It’s nice to have a ‘Victory Monday’ & a ‘Victory Friday’ in the same week! It’s nice that we get to let these two wins marinate for a bit with a little “mini-bye.”
This was the most complete game (in my opinion) the Packers have played since the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings last season. They finally played the complementary football that we had been hoping to see. All three phases of the game played well.
I’ve been highly critical of Joe Barry, mainly because of his scheme & situational play calls, but that defense played a heck of a game yesterday & I thought he called a pretty good game for the most part.
To add on to that, the defense has given this team a chance to win nearly every week this season.
The offensive line I thought played for the most part really well & held up nicely (most plays) in pass protection.
Jordan Love balled out again yesterday, which was great to see. He’s been improving weekly.
It’s been nice not seeing any JLove slander from the haters on social media or getting texts in group chats from family & friends about how bad he is – they’ve all been awfully quiet lately. Such a shame.
I’m old enough to remember when people said JLove couldn’t throw deep – since Week 9 he’s third in the NFL in explosive play rate.
It’s an interesting concept that if you give someone a chance, good things can happen.
But I’m sure the JLove haters will still find something else to nitpick about after they were complaining about completion percentage, deep throws, etc. for the longest time.
Us Packers fans have been spoiled with Hall of Fame QB play the last 30 years with Brett Favre & Aaron Rodgers, who mind you both needed time to “get it.”
It was nice to see Christian Watson play well & it was great to see Malik Heath take advantage of the opportunity he was given.
I’m excited about this playoff run for the Packers!
Now I’m just curious if Taylor Swift will be at Lambeau next Sunday night or not.
