Happy Heavenly Birthday in heaven my baby boy Rocky, the greatest dog that anyone could have asked for. I hope you’re enjoying all the freedom up in heaven!
Today is Rocky’s 14th birthday & the first one since he was born that I haven’t been able to celebrate it with him physically with me.
I went to Starbucks this morning to get him a Pup Cup, something we did every year for his birthday, then went to his most favorite park overlooking Lake Michigan to open his birthday card from Chewy.
It’s been a really rough last few weeks for me & with the holidays & his birthday all being firsts of not being with him, it’s been really sad.
I miss you & your happy face every day, Rocky, you were the best dog. I wish you were still here my boy.
It took me a while, but I finally gave away your food & water bowls to the person you loved getting the extra belly rubs & cuddles from when I’d get home. Admittedly, it felt weird giving the bowls away, but I know you would have wanted me to pay it forward to help another dog.
I am so thankful that Rocky found me. He helped me through some of the hardest times of my adult life & was there for some of the best & was along for the ride on so many different moves.
I’m forever grateful that Rocky taught me to cherish everything.
Every once in a while, if you’re really lucky, you might just meet a dog that will become your soul dog, the dog that you connected with like no other before, the dog that was always there & will always be there for you no matter what. That’s what Rocky was to me. While I miss him every single day, I know he’ll always be by my side & I’ll always cherish the memories & amazing times we had together, it was an incredible journey.
I can’t wait to see you again my baby boy.
