In a shocking move, the Tennessee Titans fired head coach Mike Vrabel this morning after two consecutive losing seasons.
The Titans went 56-48 (.539) in six seasons under Vrabel including the playoffs. Vrabel led the franchise to AFC South Division titles in 2020 & 2021, as well as a AFC Championship game appearance in 2019.
I really can’t believe this. I think this is nuts & a big time mistake by the Titans. As the season was unfolding, it became clear that Vrabes was not the problem. This team just wasn’t filled with enough talent to be truly competitive in the NFL.
You can point a lot of fingers as to why things haven’t gone well in Tennessee the last two seasons – particularly this season – but I don’t think you can truly point the finger at Vrabes.
I’d love to see Vrabes join his brother in Green Bay as the Packers next DC.
