Green Bay Packers Fall in Sao Paulo

I don’t have a ton of energy right now to go too in-depth on the game, but I’m going to give some thoughts – which might also turn into a vent session. Might post another blog this weekend after rewatching the game.

It was an ugly game from both teams in Sao Paulo, Brazil as the Philadelphia Eagles took down the Green Bay Packers, 34-29, in the first ever game in Brazil.

The gut punch for the Packers came with six seconds remaining in the game when Jordan Love got hurt. Watching some clips of the replay, JLove’s knee looked like it popped. I’m not even going to begin to speculate on what the injury is, I’m not a doctor – all I hope for is that he’s OK. Just brutal. I really don’t have a good feeling about it, just hoping it’s not as bad as it looks.

Matt LaFleur’s post game comments regarding JLove’s status…”I don’t know. I don’t know.” That doesn’t sound good to me. (Not me going to Kwik Trip to by a gallon of ice cream & cry about it).

I can’t really think off the top of my head, outside of the 2014 NFC Title game against Seattle, where the Packers had so many opportunities in a game & just had so many self inflicted mistakes.

Jordan Love had several bad throws. Receivers didn’t help JLove out & had several bad drops. Penalties (10 for 71 yards) both offensively & defensively. The tackling was horrible. Missed field goal. Started with great field position multiple times & couldn’t take advantage of it. The Red Zone offense has a lot of work to do.

Just unacceptable & sloppy football.

I am pretty disappointed that Matt LaFleur didn’t run the ball more. Green Bay had 35 passes & 21 rushes. I thought Josh Jacobs (16 attempts) & Emanuel Wilson (4 attempts) both had some really good runs.

The defense did force three turnovers, but it was a pretty disappointing performance from that unit.

I’m not terribly concerned about the game, I think Green Bay will learn from it & move forward. I am, however, very concerned with JLove’s injury.
