Green Bay Packers Fall to Minnesota Vikings

The Green Bay Packers (2-2) had too many self inflicted mistakes – particularly in the first half – to overcome in a 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings (4-0) at Lambeau Field.

I’m curious when the Vikings fans are having their parade for beating the Packers in Week 4.

I just got done rewatching the game – which is something I do with every game – so I’m just going to give some thoughts.

It was a valiant effort in the second half to storm back & to have a chance, but it was a really frustrating game. Ultimately, it was too many mistakes that cost Green Bay. The mistakes are fixable, but I’m waiting on the fix because we’ve seen these self inflicted mistakes even in victories.

We know that the Packers are capable of a lot more & there’s a lot of talent & promise with this team, which I think they showed that in the second half today. The problem is the Packers shooting themselves in the foot, which seems to be a pattern. They have a lot to clean up.

This may come as a surprise, but Green Bay still has a kicking issue as Brayden Narveson missed a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter as well as missing a 49-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Sure, if he makes one or both of those, it’s a completely different ball game, but there was lots of other things that contributed to this Packers loss from eight penalties, four turnovers, a rusty Jordan Love – especially early on, a defense that couldn’t get off the field in the first half, just way too many mistakes.

I suspect there will be some try outs at the Kicker position this week.

I was a little bothered with the Packers pass-rush today, particularly the lack of interior pressure. The four-man rush was basically nowhere to be found.

Jordan Love didn’t have his best game today & I’m sure he’d be the first to admit that. But he was out there battling & put the Packers in a position to have a chance. That 96-yard drive to cut the deficit to 31-29 was incredible.

I am a little disappointed that Josh Jacobs only had nine carries in this game. Emanuel Wilson has done a good job, but Jacobs needs to be a focal point of this offense, especially with JLove making his return & dealing with that knee, get Jacobs the ball early & often!

It’s a long season, folks. The Packers will be fine.
