Sloppy Play Dooms Green Bay Packers at Lambeau

It was a disappointing Sunday afternoon in Green Bay, Wisconsin where the Packers (6-3) had an embarrassing loss to the Detroit Lions (7-1) by a final score of 24-14 in a game that was not that close. It’s the third consecutive win for Detroit at Lambeau Field for the first time since 1986-1991.

It was a thorough domination from the Detroit Lions. The Packers had their chances today, particularly early in the game, but as has been the case so often in this 2024 season, the Packers continuously shot themselves in the foot. There was some bad miscues, some boneheaded plays (especially JLove’s pick-six), all of the dropped passes – That’s an impossible way to live for a team that had to put the ball in the air because they were down so many points.

This 2024 Green Bay Packers team is just so up & down. Way too undisciplined, way too error prone, way too many ways to hurt themselves before they even start dealing with their opponent.

There was some bright spots today, though. Josh Jacobs running was good to see, I felt the Packers had to run the ball effectively to have a chance. Arron Mosby getting in on a half sack. Daniel Whelan had a couple nice punts yet again.

Overall, it was just a disappointing performance by the Packers who come out in a game in inclement weather against a dome team, and they looked like a team that doesn’t know how handle it. You play in Green Bay, Wisconsin….It doesn’t get any better…it’s going to get colder, it’s going to get worse, it’s going to get nastier. For the team to come out and look as uninspired and just overmatched against a team that does play indoors is depressing.

Now, it is just one game. There’s a lot of season left to be played yet. The Packers just need to learn from these games, build from them, develop from them.

The bye week comes at a good time for Green Bay. JLove did not look comfortable today after his groin injury from last week. I’m hoping this bye week helps him get right. Both of Green Bay’s ugly losses at Lambeau (Minnesota & Detroit) have come when JLove is returning from an injury.
