The University of Wisconsin has hired Robin Pingeton as the next Women’s Basketball Head Coach.

In Pingeton’s 30-year head coaching career, which includes stops at St. Ambrose, Illinois State and Missouri, she has posted a career mark of 585-385 (.609), which includes a 3-6 (.333) mark in the WNCAA Tournament and 11-9 (.550) mark in the WNIT.

My two cents after doing research is that this is a very underwhelming hire. Not great.

Congrats to UW Athletic Director Chris McIntosh, who somehow found a way to take a program that is at rock bottom, with no hope, no players, no interest …. and make a hire that actually lowers expectations. I didn’t think it was possible, but it takes a rare breed to achieve the unachievable.

I hope Pingeton does a great job with the program and makes me look back and eat these words. But I’m not hopeful and optimistic that it’ll happen.

The Badgers haven’t had a winning season since 2009-10 and the last winning record in Big Ten play was 2010-11.

Pingeton has A LOT of work to do with the program.

Serah Williams, Ronnie Porter, Carter McCray, D’Yanis Jimenez, Tessa Grady, and Gracie Grzesk have already left the program.
