The Green Bay Blizzard arrived to Tucson, Arizona in search of the first IFL title in franchise history.
Instead, the Vegas Knight Hawks stopped the Blizzard literally inches short of the game winning touchdown as time expired, winning 64-61, sending Green Bay home with a 12-7 record on the season and the silver medal.
Just an absolute brutal finish to what was a very special season for the Green Bay Blizzard. To be one inch away from your first IFL title, that hurts.
It was a heck of a game between two phenomenal teams. Green Bay had a great last drive to try to win this game. But, it just didn’t work out.
On this stage, at this level, silver medals don’t matter.
Green Bay had ripped through the IFL playoffs, including a road win against Quad City in the conference finals.
In the movies, Green Bay wins the IFL championship.
Well, Las Vegas set fire to that script and came up with the only defensive stop of the game as time expired.
The Blizzard’s dream died on Saturday night. So this is about devastation, which Green Bay will feel for a long, long time.
Until next Spring. Go Blizz.
