The Green Bay Packers (2-0) took down that Washington team – whatever the hell you want to call them, they’ll always be the Redskins to me – on the Winter Warning Thursday Night Football game from Lambeau Field, 27-18, in front of 77,289 rowdy fans.

There was no scorigami Thursday night. This score has happened one (1) time before, most recently on September 10, 2000.

I will rewatch this game, as I always do, this weekend at some point. But I’ll give some initial thoughts on this game.

This was a dominant game by the Packers and the game was not nearly as close as the score shows. The fact that this Packers team has gotten off to a 2-0 start and looked this dominant, while having so much room for improvement….that’s exciting stuff!!!

Chef Hafley has the Packers defense cooking through two games! This defense potentially could be a generational defense. That unit has made the Detroit & Washington offenses look like High School operations these first two weeks.

The Packers defense is playing a heavy weight style defense. They’re fast, attacking the ball, being aggressive. This has been a championship level defense these first two games.

This is the first time the Packers defense has held two opponents to under 250 total yards of offense to open the season since 1995. A legend named Reggie White was on that defense.

Jayden Daniels statistically had his worst game as a starting quarterback in his young career. It was his worst game for:

  • Yards per play
  • Down set conversion rate
  • Explosive play rate
  • Success rate
  • EPA per play

The Packers pressured Jayden Daniels on 24 of his 52 dropbacks (46.2%), the highest pressure percentage he has faced in a game in his career and watching the game live, he didn’t handle it well. Daniels was pressured on just 22% of his dropbacks last week, per ESPN Research.

I thought Keisean Nixon played a heck of a game tonight. I believe he had five (5) pass break ups tonight. I don’t believe he’s ever had more than two (2) in a game prior to tonight.

Micah Parsons was an absolute menace tonight, as he was on Sunday. I can’t wait until he’s no longer on a snap count.

The bad news from tonight is Jayden Reed suffered a broken collarbone. The hope is that it’s a 6-8 week injury for him, which would bring him back in November. But we’ll see how it goes.

The Packers have the wide receiver depth to survive the Reed injury, plus the current “mini bye” and Week 5 Bye week in there helps as well. It could provide a blessing in disguise to allow his foot some valuable time to hopefully heal. Hopefully Reed can be close to 100% and return for the stretch run.

I’m really trying to be level headed with this team. But, this team is going to be a big problem for every single team that they play. We are watching a Super Bowl contender, folks, and of that I am certain.

Here’s the Packers receiving distribution through two weeks:

Two great wins to start the season for the 2025 Green Bay Packers.
