The Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team is Wichita bound!!!

Wisconsin was trailing Harvard, 56-49, with 39 seconds left in regulation. Kyrah Daniels nailed a three-pointer to make it a 56-52 game with 29 seconds remaining, then the Badgers forced a turnover which turned into a Dorja Iva Zaja bucket to make it a 56-54 game with 22 seconds remaining. Ronnie Porter then got a steal and after some ball movement it turned into a Destiny Howell layup to tie the game at 56-56 with 11 seconds remaining. UW forced a missed shot from Harvard to get to overtime.

The Badgers outscored Harvard 8-5 in overtime to get a 64-61 victory. The Badgers improve to 16-17 on the season and advance to the WBIT Final Four in Wichita. It’s all about surviving and advancing this time of year.

Another amazing win for the program. I know it has been another tough year at times, but the growth in the culture has been significant.

I have to give Robin Pingeton a ton of credit. This program was dead and her last few years at Missouri were rough, but she’s done a great job in year one with UW.

This is the program’s first postseason semifinal/Final Four appearance since 2008, when the program lost in the WNIT Championship game to Wyoming.

The Badgers will play the winner of California and Columbia – which is going on right now as I write this – on Monday, March 30th. Time is still TBD, but the game will be televised on ESPNU.

BYU and Kansas is the other matchup in the WBIT Final Four.
