The Santa Clara Bruins (19-9) have won their first ever CCS Softball Championship, beating the Silver Creek Raiders (19-9) in the Division 5 CCS Championship, 14-8, on the campus of West Valley College.
This was Santa Clara’s second ever appearance in the CCS Championship game, playing in the inaugural one in 1976, losing to now defunct Camden High School 9-1.
I couldn’t be happier for my friend Julie Kawamoto, who’s in her eighth season at the helm of the Bruins program.
Santa Clara will head to NorCals, where they’ll find out that information tomorrow.
