It’s game day for the San José State Spartans football team where they take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles from Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM (CT) – that’s 6:30 PM Eastern Time and 3:30 PM Pacific Time for those that struggle with time zones. The game will also be televised on ESPN+.

Spread: Eastern Michigan -2.5 (opened at EMU -4.5).

Series History: Eastern Michigan leads the all-time series between the two programs 2-0, winning the 2022 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and the 1987 California Bowl.

The Spartans opened up the season last week in Week 0 with a road game against the #14 USC Trojans, where the Spartans fell 42-26 at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum. With tonight’s game being a road game in Ypsilanti, it marks the first time since 2011 that SJSU has opened up the season with consecutive road games.

I thought SJSU starting Quarterback Luke Weaver played well last week against USC, throwing for 234 yards, two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and had zero turnovers. Jabari Bates finished with 37 rushing yards on 11 attempts against USC, but I thought he had several good tough runs.

Eastern Michigan hosted Sacramento State last week, I didn’t watch the game but they held the Hornets to 34 yards of total offense in the first half. Sacramento State ended up gaining 271 total yards of offense last week in a 28-17 Eastern Michigan win.

San José State is 1-4 all-time against MAC opponents.

My Prediction:

San José State Spartans 30

Eastern Michigan Eagles 27
