This historic season continues for the San José State Spartans men’s basketball team, as No. 2 SJSU (21-13) cruised to a 77-52 victory over the No. 15 Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles (16-17) in the First Round of the College Basketball Invitational. The win marks the first ever postseason win in SJSU program history!

Every player that suited up for the Spartans got some action, which was nice to see. In total, SJSU had 11 players score in this one, including three in double-figures. The Spartans were led by Alvaro Cardenas’ career-high 22 points.
Cardenas was 8-for-13 from the field, which includes going 3-for-6 from 3-point range.
Omari Moore added 15 points and six assists.
Robert Vaihola scored 10 points off the bench, and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

The Spartans will be playing in the Elite 8 of the CBI on Monday, March 20th. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (Central Time) and will be televised on FloHoops.
The opponent will be the winner of the No. 7 Tarleton/No. 10 Radford game. Those two teams play Sunday.
